1. Can I contribute to an ISA while I live overseas?

No. You cannot contribute to an ISA if you are not UK resident.

2. Is my ISA tax-free while I live overseas?

Not necessarily.

It will be tax free in the UK.

However, in countries such as France, Spain and the US, the ISA structure is not recognised and you would be taxed locally on any gains that you crystallised or any income that you received from your ISA.

3. Can I move from a cash ISA to a stocks and shares ISA while I live overseas?

In theory, yes.

However, most UK ISA providers won’t let you open an account if you are non resident.
